Symptom | E38/39 V8: transprogram light on,air bag light on dim, yellow brake light on at dash, radio turn of when using sunvisor vanity mirror/horn inop or when push horn |
Solution| Don’t fight it…give us a call or make an appointment, and the Doctor will be happy to diagnose the issue |
Symptom | E39, E46, E85 with M54/M56 and ZF 5HP19: Harsh 3-2 and 2-1 Downshifts |
Solution | Don’t change transmission /differential or lots of “maybes”….Most likely there is an inexpensive inexpensive solution waiting for you |
Symptom | E46 325 or most newer models: Engine stalled, transm.program light on/transmission is limp mode - Check engine light on, slowly loosing power, DSC light on and car wont start |
CAUSE: Failed alternator( even at low milage it can happen)
Solution | Battery+charging. Test/replace the battery if more than 5 years old/replace alternator. Recheck system+reset faults in computer with GT1-road test. |
Symptom | E34 525i -95 M50 engine: Car wont pass smog - check engine light on - oxygen sensor fault. Shop already replaced oxygen sensor, but the light is still on |
CAUSE: Oxigen sensor heater relay (61-36-1-378-238)+already damaged oxygen sensor |
Solution | Replace relay (orange)+again a new oxygen sensor which is located in E box, check for oil leak at valve cover gaskets and oily spark plugs. Repair if necessary but make sure no vacuum leak is present. Reset the code, test drive and check smog. |
Symptom |ABS+DSC light on all the time. |
Solution | Always check faults with GT1/battery power and check brake fluid level. In some BMW models the brake fluid level is not visible, make sure the tank is full,if not, fill it up with BMW approved fluid. Do not replace parts unless failed, reset codes+test drive. |
Symptom | ABS+DCS light on when you start driving, occasionally goes away. |
Solution | Check rear brake lights..possibly they go on and off (flickering),and you would not even know unless somebody tells you. Replace the brake light switch, check voltage drop at power sources, if low reading replace ignition switch. |
